Blog Icebreaker - (Pinterest) By Sarah Humphreys
Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Humphreys, and I am a third year Communication Studies student, with a minor in North American Studies and Education. My interests include fitness, healthy living, art, and fashion. I use social media platforms heavily and love how many platforms foster instant online discussion, connectivity, and knowledge sharing. The platforms I use the most would be TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest. I have always found Pinterest particularly interesting as it is a huge platform which possesses various lifestyle images and videos. My favourite aspect of Pinterest is how organized and customizable each profile page is. Saved images and videos go directly into folders and can be categorized and sorted to meet the specific interests of users. A Pinterest user who I believe posts compelling content is Nina Garcia (https://www.pinterest.ca/ninagarcia/). Nina posts an abundance of fashion inspiration which is all organized into categories. Some of these categories include Style Icons, Street Wear, Fashion History, and my favourite, Couture. Nina's Couture section includes designer pieces and unique fashion looks, it is very elegant which is why I am drawn to this category on Nina's Pinterest Page. Although I do not dress in Couture attire, I do have a huge appreciation for Couture and fashion. I have always loved looking at fashion in general as well as different trends and styles.
Do you enjoy using Pinterest? If so, what is some content on Pinterest that you favour?
Here are a few photos from Nina's Pinterest page:
Hey Sarah, I enjoyed reading your post and the social media platform that you chose to discuss. Personally, I love the app Pinterest and I also get a lot of inspiration and enjoyment browsing through content on the app.
ReplyDeleteSome content that I frequently view would include fashion related posts, similar to you, and a lot of home decor inspiration. I really enjoy that the app offers such a wide range of content that is appealing to so many people. When it comes to looking for content that I'm interested in, I'm always able to find a wide range of posts and users that post content relevant to what I'm looking for. I really liked how you included the part about how organized and customizable the app is, as that's one of my favourite aspects about Pinterest. I love that I am able to create new boards or add to existing ones when I find images or videos that I really liked. It makes my saved posts super accessible and I always know where to find the images I'm looking for. Great post overall!
Hi Sarah, great post!
ReplyDeleteI also love the app Pinterest as you and Maggie do, I have been using it for years for all kinds of different things. I mainly use it for inspiration and ideas, I have 16 boards which range from fashion, art, vacation spots, to hair styles. A lot of the influencers I follow tend to post and make boards themselves on Pinterest, which gives me an idea behind how they think and come up with certain outfits or how they end up putting them all together. It's a great platform where you don't need to worry about how many likes or a following someone has, it is a place where people are able to share their creativity and always find a page or post that aligns with what they were looking for.
We can say how Pinterest falls under the concept of media in which it is a physical means for representing and storing ideas, we also read how media institutionalizes communication by making such actions and practices ordered.
